Peonies and Dancers





Lustre glaze ceramic bowl by Margery Clinton  (1931-2005)

Margery became a specialist in lustre glazes as a result of research done at the Royal College of Art in the 1970s.  An inventory of her recipes and research is now held in the National Library of Scotland .....
















Looking at these fading peony petals I see dance costumes  .....

    Surprisingly transparent your flowers in the photos. Those fragile petals are co beautiful.I enjoyed the ballet painting and the sketch by Degas.

  13. Dear Ruby – What an artistic and lyrical post! I really like it when you thought of dance costumes to see fading peony petals. The dancer at the center of a mosaic would be a spirit of Peony. The translucent texture and subtle color of the fourth, fifth and sixth images are so delicately beautiful. I myself thought of my grandchild’s ballet tutu to see fresh cherry blossoms.
