"Bliss" (Detail)  -  Acrylic paints on canvas.

The Virgin of Alsace by Emile Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929).

This sculpture stands beside a tree lined pathway leading to my fovourite art gallery. Here is a strong and powerful woman,
self- assured,loving,compassionate......

"Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you".
Starhawk's charge of the Goddess  -  from The Spiral Dance

Thank you to all you lovely people who have helped make these twelve days such a joy and especially to Rebecca for bringing us together.

Wishing you love, light and joy on your journey!  -  Ruby.

Today's Offering of Bread

Celebrating the Divine Feminine  -  Day  Ten.

This morning I have no promptings for today's offering - then, while making bread I realize that this is it !!!

The altar cloth is an unfinished wall hanging titled  "This Quilt is Three Thousand Years Old ". The idea originated in a dream, in which my grandmother handed me a tattered  three thousand year old quilt. I see this as the handing down of skills and nurturing through the generations.

Wily fox adds an element of humor......she thinks there may be something here for her cubs !

The Past is Surfacing Again

Celebrating the Divine Feminine  -  Day Nine

This small wall quilt, which I made quite a long time ago, has volunteered to be presented today!

The title is" Fire Bird"   -   constructed in assorted fabrics, by machine applique.

The silver candlesticks were my grandmother's, the green velvet fabric around the bird was left over from a party dress I made for my mother and the paper angel and pink butterfly candles are gifts from my granddaughter.

The altar cloth was once part of a camel's saddle bag and the silver chain is a set of Guatemalan wedding beads.

The past is surfacing again,
claiming it's rightful place,
as if assured that it is beauty only,
that can endure through time.

Happiness Altar

This is my Samhain Happiness Altar .

The painting behind is "I am the Weaver of Dreams, she said" .

The crystals are beaming out happiness !

Silver bird candle bought in a local Mexican shop .

The pink hydrangea is the last from my garden .

Samhain marks the halfway point between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice.

In past times, in Celtic lands, it was known as the Festival of Fairies and Feast of the Dead.

In old Irish Samhain means  "summer's end"  -  time to stock up
and retreat indoors for the cold dark winter months .

More Objects in Waiting

For the next week I'll be collecting objects for my Samhain/Hallo'een/Day of the Dead altar.

Because this is an intuitive process some things will find their way onto the altar, others will not.
