I've been trimming dead leaves and flowers on a cyclamen plant in the guest room.
The old Limoges plate was used purely for convenience but as I was about to bin the materials I noticed how interesting the colours, shapes and composition looked .........
A friend is coming to stay......will he be "Dreaming with Hypnos" ?
This sculpture head of Hypnos, ancient Greek God of Sleep, lives in the guest bedroom.
It was believed that he sent people to sleep by touching their forehead with his wand or fanning them with his dark wings. In my depiction the dream bird flies through his head.
Sweet dreams !
Thank you for visiting
Lucky guest will have a good nights sleep :)
ReplyDeleteTime for dreams and pretty arrangements!
I love your photos! May you always have sweet dreams :)
ReplyDeleteThe still lovely spent flowers contrast the ephemeral with the more enduring. Lovely colors. I'm afraid the Hypnos figurine would give me nightmares rather than sweet dreams. I've been listening to some isochronic healing frequencies on You Tube, so I looked up Dreaming with Hypnosis and they have some entries there, I'm more inclined to just listen to the frequencies though, I listened some last night and had a better night's sleep.
ReplyDeleteHannah - actually only one person has ever found Hypnos scary ..... everyone else has remarked that they had a good night's sleep. Of course this may also have to do with the room itself as all spaces appear to have different energies.....
DeleteI'm glad you found some help with sleeping ~ it's fascinating what can be found on You Tube ....
I looked up dreaming with hypnosis and found an image of Hypnos I hadn't seen before ~ thank you !
What a divine post and so creative with your work ~ brightened my night with the lovely dry flowered arrangement ~

ReplyDeleteI love cyclamen, they have such an interesting bloom with the petals flaring backwards. A lovely calming post, I think I would sleep well in your guest room....

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and colorful arrangement.
ReplyDeleteThe cyclamen trimmings do make a pretty display on the plate; you're a person who sees beauty in everything! The mythical Hypnos is new to me and I can imagine a gentle fanning of wings would send me off to sleep.
