Imbolg
In Celtic countries Imbolg (1st - 2nd Febuary) is the Feast of the Goddess Brighde
Also known as the Feast of Waxing Light.
It marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
Traditionally lamps were lit in every room in the house to hasten the return of light.
Painting by W.C. Wontner (1857-1930) - " Joueuse de Saz"
"Let the beauty we love be what we do" .... Rumi (13th century)

ReplyDeleteA great and luminous selection of images. I particularly like the sunlight falling across the old stone arched doorway. And the light certainly is increasing, as if it is deliberately lingering, reminding us of all that is to come.
