Circle of Friends
I recently had the opportunity to photograph this necklace I made many years ago.
It was created at a time when I was making applique wall hangings - using similar motifs.
The materials are enamel over copper, with brass wire and wooden beads.
It's strange feeling reconnecting with it again ...... like greeting an old friend!

I love how these Russian dolls have different expressions.....
The inset illustration is from a Russian fairy tale
In the old Celtic calendar this is Samhain, the half way point between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice. The time when spirits of our ancestors return for a brief visit.
In the Northern Hemisphere we now move into the darkest part of the year.
Wishing you peace and joy on your journey ..... wherever you are

October Winds
It's been very windy for the past two days and although many trees still retain green foliage, every leaf which was not firmly attached has been scattered around the neighbourhood.
I was surprised to see such a variety piled up in our garden .......
Horse chestnut,sweet chestnut,sycamore,oak,lime,maple,cherry,rowan,elm,willow .......
These, I brought indoors

Morning Feast
This morning, while looking for something to complete this post, I spotted a grey squirrel feasting
on rose hips at the foot of the garden. So intent was it on eating that it didn't notice as I gently opened a window and leaned out.
The hips are now beginning to decay but this probably makes them even more delicious!

Maple leaves collected while walking in a community woodland
Maples are not native to Scotland and are usually found in small plantations and arboretums
Thank you for visiting ........ have a wonderful week!

Autumn Equinox - Harvest Thanksgiving
Dried vegetation, which has been lying in a corner of my studio since early August
I love watching the forms and colours change - creatively it's all grist for the mill .......
Today I'm clearing up and seeds will be returned to the garden to continue their cycle
